A Glorious Marathon Day!

April 18, 2017

There’s an Irish blessing that begins: May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face.

Well, on Patriots Day, the blessing came true.

Sure, it may not have felt like the road was rising up to meet our runners on Heartbreak Hill, or when they came up out of the Comm Ave tunnel, but Amin Saab, Clare Durkin, Maureen Tighe and Jake Kennedy all had great runs. (That’s Jake on Hereford Street, just about to round the corner onto Boylston: less than a mile to go!)

Fortunately, throughout the race, when the wind was blowing, it was a runner’s wind: at your back, not in your face.

The sun may have shone a bit too warm for the runners, but it was better than 38 degrees and sleet. And it was excellent weather for the tens of thousands of spectators who cheered the runners on.

Anyway, here’s a big Christmas in the City shout out to Amin, Clare, and Maureen, who raised thousands of dollars for CITC. And who are still raising money, as post-race donations continue to come in. (You can make a donation here.)

Thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to Amin, Clare, and Maureen.

And thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all those who made donations in support of them.

That Irish blessing ends: And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Wishing the full blessing to all of our runners, all of our supporters, all of our volunteers, and all of the kids and their families that we’ve had the pleasure to meet over the past nearly 30 years.
