Congratulations, Julian Edelman and the New England Patriots

February 7, 2017

For Patriots fans, there were plenty of moments in Sunday night’s Super Bowl that might have had us doubting. At least a bit.  And then they managed to pull off their BIG WIN – maybe the BIGGEST WIN EVER.

So when did it actually sink in that the Patriots were going to come back from being wicked way far behind and win the darn thing, staging the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history? For those of us at Christmas in the City, it was – of course – when Julian Edelman made the miraculous catch that kept the Pats in the game and on their way to a great win. Julian and his phenomenal catch even made it on to the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated.

We’d love Julian anyway, but CITC fans will know that Julian is one of our biggest fans. In December, he was the highlight of our celebrity tree auction, which raised a lot of money for the CITC cause. And he also read his new kids’ book, Flying High.

So we’re especially delighted for Julian. Congratulations! Flying high, indeed!

And congratulations to all the New England Patriots for an amazing win.

Finally, we want to note that, in overcoming the tremendous odds they faced after they fell so far behind, what we saw in the Patriots was tremendous grit, mental toughness, perseverance, and resilience. These are the same characteristics we see in the families we work with who, day in day out, try to do the best for their kids, whatever the circumstances they find themselves in.
