Last winter, our old friends at Harpoon Brewery and our new friends at Mike’s Pastry in the North End teamed up to create a new brew: Cannoli Stout. This innovative beverage used Mike’s handmade cannoli shells and other ingredients to give the stout the flavor of Mike’s famous dessert. (If you’ve ever wondered what folks are carrying around in those string-tied, white and blue boxes, you can’t go wrong by guessing that there’s at least a cannoli or two in there.)
And they donated a portion of their sales to Christmas in the City.
Apparently, there are a lot of folks willing to try cannoli-flavored stout, because they raised a whopping $17,832 for us!
Last month, Harpoon CEO Dan Kenary and Business Manager Greg Moon, along with Joe Papa from Mike’s Pastry, presented the check to Sparky Kennedy.
Thank you to Dan his crew at Harpoon for all you’ve done for us over the years. And thank you to Joe and his team at Mike’s. We’re thrilled to have you on board as supporters.
While our events have been scaled back this year, we’re still working with a number of shelters to bring a little Christmas in the City to them. Donations are still needed to help us pay for the cost of the meals, and for small gifts for the parents. We’re also hoping to go into 2021 on a solid financial footing, as we plan (pandemic wiling) to be back in full force for the next holiday season.
As we head into prime holiday shopping season, remember that tomorrow, December 1st, is Giving Tuesday. If you’d like to add Christmas in the City to your giving list, we’d be delighted. And we can guarantee that your donation will be put to good use. As we always tell people, we couldn’t do all that we do without the generosity of our supporters.
