Here at Christmas in the City, one of the things that we’re especially grateful for is our supporters – those organizations that help us put on A Party Like No Other, the annual CITC party for thousands of Boston-area kids who are homeless (which is especially tough come the holidays). Our supporters also help us stock the shelves for the Monday Mania gift event, when toys for needy families are distributed.
This year, we’ve welcomed several new supporters. One of them is SendItLater, a local gifting start up. SendItLater’s premise is that busy people will want to schedule messages and gifts from their partners (companies like Overstock) that will be sent out in the future. But don’t let the name fool you: you can also use SendItLater to send it now.
They’re a young company that’s not just looking inward. SendItLater wants to give back to the community. So they looked for charities that donated Christmas toys and found Christmas in the City. They then reached out to us to see if they could help make it easier for people to make toy donations for our kids. Along the way, SendItLater made the decision to donate 100% of their commissions from CITC toy purchases back to CITC. While we’re always in need of toys, we’re also always in need of money – this year more than ever – to help defray the costs of things that don’t come free, like renting the party venue.
We’re getting down to the wire, but it’s not too late to order a toy from SendItLater.
And don’t forget to check them out if you have other gift needs, especially if you want to take care of them in advance. (Check out our other great supporters, too. We couldn’t do what we do without them!)
So thank you, SendItLater.
