Blogging in the City

With our new web site, we’re also inaugurating our new blog. Each week, we’ll be taking a look at some aspect of our work at Christmas in the City. We’ll take you behind the scenes, and let you see exactly what goes into the making of our annual party. (Hint: the party itself is magic, but what makes the magic is hours upon hours of careful planning and execution. All taken care of by the magnificent folks who, for 27 years now, have volunteered their time, letting us keep of our promise: CITC is a 100% volunteer run organization.) We’ll introduce you to some of these folks, and hear from them about why they volunteer, what they put into it, and what they get out of it.

You’ll no doubt be hearing from us when we’re looking for your help: When we have toy wishlists that need to be taken care of. When we need volunteers to pitch in. When we’re working with a family transitioning out of homelessness who need something that you can offer. When we have some slots at our job fair that your company might fill. When we have an upcoming fundraising event that you might want to attend.

We’ll also let you know when Christmas in the City is in the news, and there’s a story you’ll want to check out.

On occasion, we’ll be talking about “the issues”, and about what we can all do to help the members of our community – the friends we may not have met yet, the neighbors who might not live next door – who are struggling with homelessness and poverty.

Monday will be our regular blogging day. So we’ll see you next Monday, October 31st. In the meanwhile, take a look around our new web site, and let us know what you think!
