Helping Families

Whatever the season, poverty and homelessness are challenging.

Throughout the year, Christmas in the City helps families making the tough transition from homelessness and poverty, or those on the brink of homelessness who may need some day-to-day assistance in order to stay independent.

Whatever a family needs

Through this program, we provide a broad range of services – whatever the family needs. These services have included:

  • Help with setting up a banking account
  • Scheduling a lead-paint exam
  • Finding Section 8 housing
  • Getting some electrical or plumbing work done
  • Help finding a job (including interview outfits)
  • Assistance with medical expenses
  • Help with unexpected bills (car repair, funeral)

There is NO application process for this program. We rely on a small group of trusted advisors to introduce us to families in need of these and other services. (A note to our supporters: this is not a formal program, and it is not possible to “sponsor a family”. When we are helping families with specific needs that must be met, we do put the word out.)

CITC brings community together. It helps people understand that they’re not alone, that there is someone out there willing to walk with them, hand in hand.

Christmas in the City is registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Contributions to CITC are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
