Spreading the Holiday Spirit of Giving, All Year Round!
Keeping the holiday spirit of kindness and charity alive all year long is a marathon feat—each day brings a challenge and opportunity for acts of compassion.
On Monday, April 16, 2018, Christmas in the City runners will run the Boston Marathon to raise money for their favorite cause.
As veteran marathoners, we are venturing forth to spread that holiday cheer throughout the year, bringing a bit of Christmas to those in need.
2018 marks 30 years since Jake & Sparky Kennedy started CITC. This April, they have given me the honor of running the 122nd Boston Marathon on behalf of CITC. Sure, many people run marathons, but this is a one-in-51-year event for me, and something I never in my life thought I could do. With Jake’s coaching, and a year’s preparation, I’m very excited to have the opportunity to both raise money for such a worthwhile charity and take on this personal challenge.
When I was in middle school I remember making the goal of running a marathon before the age of 25. Upon graduating college and having played a Division I sport for 4 years I realized I needed something new to strive for, so here I am a year and a half later training for the Boston Marathon. I am proud and honored that my first marathon gets to be Boston. This city means so much to me and I truly believe that the people living here are some of the strongest people in the world.
