Thanksgiving in the City: Food donations welcome! (Food donatons needed!)

November 7, 2016

This year, we’ll be giving out 600 food baskets (maybe even more) to some very deserving families in need. The baskets will include a turkey and all the fixin’s. (And, no, despite the picture, the turkey will NOT be live.)

We’ll provide the turkeys, but we want to make sure those baskets are stuffed. So we’re looking for donations of:

  • Cranberry sauce
  • Stuffing (boxed mix or bags)
  • Mashed potatoes (boxed)
  • Canned veggies (corn, green beans, yams…)
  • Canned pumpkin (someone might want to make a pie!)

To make the holiday feast even more fun and festive, why not consider donating a special treat: a box of chocolates, a can of nuts, a bottle of sparkling cider or grape juice… The sorts of goodies we all like to enjoy on Thanksgiving.

We also like to offer folks a chance to add to their larders, so we will definitely be happy to take all sorts of non-perishables:

  • Canned tuna
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Canned soups
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Boxes of mac and cheese
  • Rice and rice mix
  • Crackers
  • Canned fruit
  • Juice

The types of things that most of us take for granted that we’ll have on our pantry shelves.

You can drop off your food donations at:

Kennedy Brothers PT
45 Franklin Street
Boston (Downtown Crossing)

We’ll be accepting donations from now through Friday, November 18th.

If your organization would like to provide full Thanksgiving Dinner baskets (or bags, or cartons) – everything BUT the turkey: that we’ll provide – please email us at info@christmasinthecity.org.

We know we can count on you, and look forward to seeing you at KBPT with your grocery bags in hand!

(Of course, financial donations are always welcome, too. The need is so great…)
